Hangzhou Dianzi University Presents 3D Bio Printer That Prints Human Body Parts

Published:2014-09-17

In the beginning of August it is reported that researchers of Hangzhou-based Dianzi University successfully printed out small scaled human body parts using bio materials like cells that are placed inside the cartridge of a highly advanced 3D printer.

CNN has now interviewed the scientists behind this revolutionary step in 3D-printing. In the video below Xu Ming’en, lead researcher, explains the difference with other 3D printers. He states:

“”Compared to other 3D printers our device is equipped with a spray head that can rotate from -5 to 260 degrees. It allows us to transform cells into structures we want, while minimizing damage to them. This device is the best of its kind in the world in terms of printing cells into 3D as well as working compatiblely with other bio materials.”

The video once more confirms the fact that China is among the leading countries in the field of 3D-printing. Although 3D bio printing is still in its infancy the research results of the Dianzi University must definitely be seen as a cutting-edge development and a big step in terms of 3D printing innovation.
